Steps 10-12

Steps 10-12

Here are steps 10-12:

Continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God/Higher Power as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics/addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

People seem to believe once you hit these steps you are on the home stretch. You have mastered your addictive behaviors and you are well on your way to mental wellness. Unfortunately, this is far from the truth and in fact you will find the more you learn about yourself the more you realize you have so much more to go. It becomes very apparent there was so much hidden you are just starting to learn about yourself and many people end up going back through the steps to rediscover themselves.

It is always interesting to complete the steps again when you have done some work on yourself as when you go through it a second time around hopefully you will be able to discover some differences about yourself. It will become apparent the world around you is not what it appears to be and if you what change you have to manifest it within yourself. As indicated in step 10, continue to take personal inventory as this is important to determine what part you play in the event/s that are occurring around you. In addition, leaning towards service work is always a great way to stay outside of yourself and keeping your “ego” in check. So now that you are aware of all the steps it is up to you to determine where this all fits in to your road of recovery. So make it a point to determine what your recovery plan is whether it is incorporating the 12 steps, utilizing your cultural beliefs, or incorporating your religious practices. Everyone has to walk this road of wellness on a daily basis how you go about doing so is your business so take the next step.
